Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining the reason for leaving, describing the desired job, and asking for help. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The explanation for leaving is brief, and the request for help lacks detail. To improve, you should expand on your reasons and provide more context about your professional background or specific skills to make the request more persuasive. Because the length requirement was not met, the score is capped at Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which is appropriate for a personal letter. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and somewhat mechanical. Phrases like 'Moreover' and 'Along with this' are used to transition, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed due to grammatical errors and punctuation issues. The lack of clear sentence boundaries makes the progression of ideas feel slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'job' and 'companies' throughout the text. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'doni g' for 'doing', 'knwo' for 'know', 'quite' for 'quit', and 'roogers' for 'Rogers'. These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, hinder the overall quality of the writing. To improve, try to incorporate more specific professional terminology related to the IT industry and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with verb tense consistency ('I quite my previous job'), missing articles, and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. For example, 'my boss he is very aggressive' is grammatically incorrect. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of punctuation to separate independent clauses.
