Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why you are looking for a job, describing the desired role, and asking for help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the ideas are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, you could have provided more detail about your specific skills or why you are particularly interested in the long-term care sector. While the task requirements are met, the development of ideas remains quite basic, which limits the score. Expanding on your motivations or the specific nature of the help you need would improve the overall quality of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into three distinct paragraphs, each corresponding to a bullet point. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures and basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'because'. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') to improve the flow between sentences and ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms such as 'get a job' and 'new job' repeatedly. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'continoue' (continue), 'heath' (health), and 'apperitiate' (appreciate). To improve, you should aim to use more specific professional terminology related to your field and avoid repetitive phrasing. While your meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

Your writing shows a mix of simple sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('a new job', 'the field job'), incorrect verb forms ('it does not take to long me to drive'), and punctuation issues. The sentence structure is generally straightforward, and you have not demonstrated a wide range of complex grammatical structures. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the letter. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
