Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why you are looking for a job, describing the desired role, and asking for help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention needing to pay bills, you could have expanded slightly on your career goals or why you are specifically interested in this restaurant. The response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively, though it remains quite brief in its elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from your current situation to the request for help. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is weak; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block of text, which makes it harder to read. Additionally, some transitions are slightly mechanical or abrupt, such as the sudden shift from discussing the job to suggesting a social meeting at a casino. Improving paragraph breaks would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacancy', 'priority', and 'fine dine restaurants'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'at you restaurant' (should be 'your') and 'at you place' (should be 'your'). While you successfully convey your meaning, the range of vocabulary is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied descriptive language and ensure that common collocations are used accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'It's been 3 weeks I have no work' (missing 'since'), 'hiring is going on at you restaurant' (missing 'your'), and 'I hope see you soon' (missing 'to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction.
