Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Ebin,

I hope you are at pink of your health. I wanted to tell you that I am searching for a new job as I am not able to maintain a proper work-life balance in the current organization.

The project in which I have been assigned is hectic and there are very short deadlines to complete the tasks. The travel time is alone three hours on whole. There is no hybrid mode and there are client meetings during the late nights which is mandatory to attend. These makes my life so stressed and I am not able to spend quality time with my family. I have been looking for a job that offers hybrid mode and which also provides cabs for the commute. Additionally, I would also prefer working in Austrialian projects as the shift timings matches with the clients. I need your help in finding a job that suits my specifications. If you come accross any vacancies at your company please let me know. And also if you have a referral option kindly refer me so that it helps me to find a job easier.

It would be great if you could help. I am looking forwars to hearinh from you.

With Love,

Akshaya

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your reasons for leaving your current job, described your ideal role, and made a specific request for your friend's assistance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a personal and informal style throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements, providing enough detail to make the situation clear to the reader. You have fully satisfied the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized, with a clear progression from the reason for writing to the specific request for help. You have used paragraphing effectively to separate the different parts of your message. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'If you come across', and 'It would be great if' are used appropriately to link your ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, the transition between the description of the job and the request for help could be slightly more refined to improve the overall cohesion of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly. Phrases like 'work-life balance', 'hybrid mode', and 'referral option' are used correctly in context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, such as 'at pink of your health' (an incorrect idiom; 'in the pink of health' is standard) and 'on whole' (should be 'in total' or 'altogether'). Despite these minor slips, your vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'The project in which I have been assigned' (should be 'to which I have been assigned'), 'These makes my life' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'shift timings matches' (should be 'match'). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'Austrialian', 'accross', 'forwars', and 'hearinh'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and spelling will help improve your score.
