Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sandeep,
I am writing to ask for a help to find a new job for me as I have decided to chnace my current job due to some issues which I am facing at my work place.
As I am on the position of Assistant Director of the company, my seniors are not giving me the enough projects to show my professional skills and performance. As a result, my knowledge and skills would stay limited even after working for a long time. In addition to this, the basic facilties that company promised me during the hiring time, are not fulfilled. Such as personal cabine, lunch breaks and free parking in the building,
So, I have decided to change the company not the job title. I would appreciate if you can help me to find a new company where the hiring is going on. It should be well reputated and should have international links so that I can learn international relation building and communication skills also.
I hope your links will help me to find a job soon. Your positive response can help me to take this step easily.
Best wishes,
Harpreet,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the reason for leaving, describing the desired job, and asking for help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the lack of facilities like a 'personal cabine' and 'lunch breaks', these points could be expanded slightly to better illustrate your frustration. The request for help is clear, but could be more specific regarding the type of industry or role you are targeting. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'As a result', 'In addition to this', and 'So' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors in punctuation and sentence structure. For example, the sentence 'Such as personal cabine, lunch breaks and free parking in the building,' is a fragment that should be integrated into the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text move more smoothly between points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional skills', 'performance', and 'reputated'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors that slightly hinder the precision of your writing. For example, 'chnace' instead of 'change', 'facilties' instead of 'facilities', and 'reputated' instead of 'reputable'. Additionally, 'cabine' should be 'cabin' or 'office'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a broader grasp of common collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'ask for a help' (should be 'ask for help'), 'on the position of' (should be 'in the position of'), and 'the hiring is going on' (should be 'hiring is taking place'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence boundaries, particularly the fragment mentioned earlier. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are the most frequent sources of error in your writing.
