Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Prabh,
I hope my email finds you doing well. I am writing this letter to inform you that I am planning to relocate to your nearest city and going to change my job. As you have been working in Security field for last few years and your achievements took my interest in security industry too. Also, I just have finished an Asset protection training course which is essential in working as a security officer. Additionally, to be more convenient I got my full driver's license as well.
So,I wanted to ask you that if you could refer my profile and resume to your company for any security position. Because your recommendation would be highly noticeable and your efforts can make a big change to get me a new job and it would be highly appreciated.
I would look forward to hear a positive response from you soon.
Your best friend ,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why you are looking for a job, describing the desired role, and asking for help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your training, you could have elaborated more on your specific skills or the type of security work you are interested in to make the request more persuasive. The letter covers the requirements well enough to be clear, but further expansion would have provided a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression from the purpose of the letter to the specific request. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'So,' though the transition between the explanation of your training and the request for a referral could be smoother. Paragraphing is present, but the letter is quite short, which makes the structure feel a bit compressed. Using a wider variety of linking words would help improve the flow between sentences and ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'relocate,' 'achievements,' and 'essential.' However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'take my interest in' (should be 'sparked my interest in') and 'to be more convenient' (which does not fit the context of acquiring a license). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I just have finished' (should be 'I have just finished'), 'ask you that if you could' (the 'that' is unnecessary), and 'look forward to hear' (should be 'look forward to hearing'). Punctuation is also slightly inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score in this category.
