Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Ravinder,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing this letter to inform you that I am looking for a new job. As you know I lost my previous job. Nowadays, I feel exhausted to be at home for such a long time and one more reason is its hard to manage expenses without a job becuase my savings were also ran out.
My preferences regarding job are not that high . I just need a entry level position in my field only with the basic pay rate. But I have only one concern that is the location because i amnot driving so its hard tp manage above 50km distance with local transportation system.
As you are my best friend, I am expecting from you that you will help me finding a good job .Also, give my refernce in your company and talk with your manager on my behalf .
Thanks for your support in advance.
Yours Lovingly
Anu

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why you are looking for a job, described your preferences, and made a clear request for assistance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a personal and informal style throughout. The ideas are relevant and easy to follow. To improve, you could expand slightly on the 'kind of job' section by mentioning specific skills or interests, which would add more depth to your response and help you reach a higher band level by providing more detailed development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Also' and 'As you are my best friend' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit inconsistent, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly. For example, instead of starting sentences with 'Also', you could integrate your request more naturally into the flow of the paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some appropriate phrases like 'entry level position' and 'basic pay rate'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'becuase' (because), 'refernce' (reference), and 'my savings were also ran out' (had run out). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring accurate spelling. Expanding your range to include more idiomatic expressions or collocations related to job hunting would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I feel exhausted to be at home' (I am tired of being at home), 'i amnot driving' (I do not drive), and 'its hard tp manage' (it is hard to manage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses. Proofreading your work for these small errors will help you achieve a higher score, as your current errors occasionally distract from the message.
