Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points required in the task prompt. You clearly explained the reason for looking for a new job, specifically mentioning that your current job is difficult and your new boss is rude. Furthermore, you described the kind of job you would like to have, namely a child care teacher role related to your studies, and you asked your friend for help by requesting daycare suggestions and asking about her sister. All parts of the prompt are covered well, and the tone is appropriately informal and friendly for a letter to a friend. The purpose is immediately clear and sustained throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a clear friendly structure, beginning with appropriate salutations and closing with a warm sign-off. Ideas are generally grouped logically, moving from your current situation to your future job aspirations, and finally to your requests for help. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition markers like 'Moreover' and 'In addtion' are used, but paragraphing is somewhat blurred, and referencing is not always clear, such as in the phrase 'I will request to you that please suggest me'. Transitions between sentences could be smoother to enhance the overall logical flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating personal feelings and job-related intentions. Expressions such as 'dream job', 'child care teacher', and 'memories together' show a reasonable ability to discuss everyday topics. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'toinfrom', 'becuse', 'cuurent', 'conversationes', 'cutomers', 'tommrow', and 'jod'. While these errors do not impede overall communication because the context makes the meaning clear, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary control is inconsistent and spelling mistakes recur.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I'm writing this letter to inform you that, I'm looking a new job because my current job is very hard for me.' There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and tense control throughout the text, including 'Hope you doing fab!', 'she is very rude with everyone', 'I'm really felt bad', 'I,m try to find', and 'ask her help me as well'. Punctuation is also erratic with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. Although these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, they are persistent enough to prevent the grammar score from reaching a higher band.
