Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter partially addresses all bullet points, explaining that the writer has just graduated and wants a marketing role, and asking the friend for job help. However, the ideas are quite limited, repetitive, and under-developed. For example, the explanation of wanting a marketing manager job lacks specific details about industry preferences or career goals. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 128 words, falling 22 words short of the 150-word minimum. This significant under-length impacts the overall development of the task, restricting the score according to the official descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter features some organisation with a friendly greeting and sign-off, but overall progression is limited due to the short paragraphs and disjointed sentences. The text relies on basic cohesive devices like "so" and "due to that," which are sometimes used inaccurately or mechanically. Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas are broken into very brief, isolated blocks, such as single-sentence paragraphs like "Currently, I am looking forward to more opportunities..." and "For instance, If i am working...". Referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the logical flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, representing a limited range that is minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as "opportunities" and "marketing manager," but makes noticeable lexical and collocational errors, such as writing "join a Marketing work" instead of "work in marketing" or "do a marketing in my degree" instead of "major in marketing." Word choices are occasionally unnatural, and spelling or phrasing mistakes, like "an vacancy," highlight limitations in lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, such as conditional forms ("If i am working as a marketing manager, it will give me..."). However, control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in tense usage, article selection, and capitalization, such as "doing good" instead of "doing well," "I have just got" instead of "I just got," "i am finally graduate" instead of "I have finally graduated," and lowercase "i." Punctuation errors, such as misuse of commas and unnecessary capitalization after commas, also occur throughout the text.
