Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the prompt. You explained why you are looking for a job by mentioning your upcoming move to Australia for a university degree and the need to cover living expenses, such as 'monthly rent or grocery'. You described the kind of job you would like to have by specifying that you are seeking a part-time day care job due to your six years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator. Finally, you asked your friend for help by requesting them to find a similar job or suggest day cares that are currently hiring. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly for a letter to a peer, and all parts of the task are fully addressed with clear and relevant ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
Your letter has a clear overall progression and logical organisation. The paragraphs are structured effectively, separating the introduction, the explanation of the job search, the specific job preference, and the request for help. You used some appropriate cohesive devices and transition markers such as 'In addition' and 'As you know'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally slightly mechanical, and sentences like 'I am requesting to you please find a similar job for me' could be smoothed out for a more natural flow. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, ensuring the reader can easily follow your message from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrated a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, including topic-specific terms such as 'study visa', 'university degree', 'part-time job', and 'Early childhood educator'. You attempted some less common phrases like 'doing splendidly' and 'assist me to get'. However, there are a few lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'paid good amount of funds' (instead of 'paid a substantial amount'), 'move in Australia' (instead of 'move to Australia'), and 'grocery' (should be plural 'groceries'). Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is adequate to convey your message clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You displayed a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'because', 'such as', and 'even though'. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. For instance, there is a missing article in 'how expensive is living there' (should be 'how expensive living is' or 'how expensive it is to live there'), punctuation and spacing issues like missing spaces after periods, and an awkward prepositional phrase in 'I am requesting to you please find' (should simply be 'I am asking you to please find'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede overall communication, demonstrating a solid Band 6 performance.
