Dear Abhi,

Hope you are doing well. As you know that I was thinking to quit this current job and move towards my passion.

I think now it is a good time to quit my job and move towards Cricket, as you know how much passion I used to have towrads Cricket and I even wanted to become a Cricketer at one point which did not happen due to several reasons in the past.

But I still have that passion and knowledge which I have gained while I was get trained. I know that I cannot play cricket anymore due to age restrictions but atleast I can coach. So i have decided to quit my ongoing job and to move close to the cricket.

You know how I love this job, and I am so glad that I could finally make the decision to bacome a cricket coach . So if you can find any Cricket County or any university looking for the Coach please do let me know.

Thank you,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You clearly explained why you are looking for a new job by stating your desire to move towards your passion for cricket instead of your current employment. You described the kind of job you would like to have, specifically mentioning a role as a cricket coach at a county club or university. Furthermore, you asked your friend Abhi for help in finding this position. The tone is appropriate for writing to a friend, maintaining a personal and direct approach throughout the letter. The ideas are relevant and fully developed, meeting all requirements for this criterion comfortably.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter follows a logical progression from explaining the career change to describing the desired job and finally asking for assistance. Paragraphing is used reasonably well to separate distinct points, although some paragraphs are slightly short and could be better integrated. Cohesive devices are generally handled adequately with words like 'So', 'But', and 'As you know', though referencing is at times repetitive (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'You know'). Overall, the arrangement is coherent and the letter is easy to follow from beginning to end.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your personal situation and goals. You attempt some less common vocabulary items such as 'passion', 'restrictions', and 'coach'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'towrads' instead of 'towards', 'get trained' instead of 'trained', 'bacome' instead of 'become', and the contradiction in stating 'You know how I love this job' right after explaining your desire to quit. These lexical slips and minor inaccuracies prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable command of grammar. For instance, you successfully employ conditional and causal structures like 'I know that I cannot play cricket anymore due to age restrictions but atleast I can coach.' However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'As you know that I was thinking to quit' (unnecessary 'that' and incorrect infinitive 'to quit' after 'thinking of quitting'), 'while I was get trained' (passive voice error), and 'move close to the cricket' (unnecessary article). These errors occasionally disrupt the flow, but they do not impede overall communication.
