Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain why you are looking for a new job by stating that you recently passed your NCLEX RN examination, have a license, but are unable to find a reliable job in your crowded area and want to move for a better future. You also describe the kind of job you would like to have, mentioning that you are opting for full-time positions, whether permanent or temporary. Finally, you ask your friend to help you find a job by leveraging her experience as a Nurse Practitioner to guide you on where to apply and where to find websites. The tone is appropriate for writing to a friend, and all parts of the task are adequately addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter maintains a reasonably coherent overall arrangement, and the purpose of the communication is clear throughout. However, paragraphing is somewhat weak, as the entire body of the letter is compressed into a single block of text rather than being divided into logical paragraphs for different points. Cohesive devices are also somewhat basic and occasionally repetitive. For instance, sentences like 'However I have license but still I am unable...' display faulty conjunction usage and a lack of smooth transitions. While referencing is generally clear, the lack of paragraph breaks limits the flow and logical progression of ideas, placing it firmly in the mid-range for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating your personal situation, qualifications, and request for help. You attempt some less common vocabulary related to your profession, such as 'NCLEX RN examination', 'Nurse Practitioner', and 'full-time employment'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'searcing' instead of searching, 'reliable job' instead of a reliable job or suitable position, and 'crowded area' where 'populated' or 'competitive' might be more appropriate. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect a limited and sometimes imprecise range of lexical resources.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'To manage my bills and other expenses I need full time employment.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including missing commas, run-on sentences, and article omissions (e.g., 'hope you are doing well.I am writing...', 'passed my NCLEX RN examination and luckily I passed', 'However I have license', 'where from I can find there websites'). The pronoun reference and preposition usage also show inaccuracies, such as 'help me finding a job' instead of 'help me find a job'. These errors require some effort to decode at times, though they do not completely impede communication.
