Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Petar,
I hope you are doing well. It's been ages since we last caught up. As you know I have completed my study last month and now I'm finding a new job. You know I'm belong from under priviledge family, so I need to do job to support my family financially.
Since I did masters in accounts. I would like to do job in same profession. Which will not only match with my study but also related to my interest. I believe I can do better if I get job in similar field.
It would be a great help for me if you could find a job to me. Moreover, you could also refer me a job if you find on internet. As your father is working in a multinational company I would appreciate it if he gives me referal in factory.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Ramu

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your letter successfully covers all the bullet points required in the prompt. You clearly explain why you are looking for a new job by mentioning that you have completed your studies and need to support your family financially. You also describe the kind of job you would like by stating your preference for an accounting role that matches your background. Finally, you ask your friend for help through job hunting, internet searches, and a potential referral. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, meaning that while the requirements are met, the depth of elaboration remains somewhat basic in places, such as when you simply state you want an accounting job without detailing the specific industry or position you are aiming for. To move into higher bands, ensure every point is thoroughly expanded with more specific details and context.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter has a clear overall arrangement and an appropriate informal greeting and sign-off suitable for writing to a friend. You use paragraphing reasonably well to separate your main points, such as the reason for the job search, your preferred profession, and the request for help. At the same time, cohesion between sentences is sometimes mechanical or features slightly faulty referencing, such as starting a sentence with 'Which will not only match...' where a relative clause is awkwardly punctuated as a sentence fragment. Additionally, transitional devices like 'Moreover' are used somewhat rigidly. To improve further, focus on smoothing out the transitions between your ideas and ensure that all sentences are grammatically complete rather than relying on fragmented clauses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using appropriate terms related to employment such as 'profession', 'financial', and 'multinational company'. You also attempt some less common vocabulary, but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word form. For instance, you write 'under priviledge family' instead of 'underprivileged family', 'I'm belong' instead of 'I belong', and 'referal' instead of 'referral'. Furthermore, phrases like 'do job' lack natural collocation and should be 'get a job' or 'work'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict your score because the control of lexical items is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, pay close attention to correct spelling, word forms, and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You display a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, such as using subordinate clauses with 'since' and 'if'. However, your writing contains a noticeable cluster of errors in grammar and punctuation. There are tense and verb form issues, such as 'I have completed my study' instead of 'I completed my studies' or 'I finished my studies', and 'now I'm finding a new job' where 'I am looking for a new job' is more appropriate. You also miss necessary articles, such as writing 'get job' instead of 'get a job'. While these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning is generally clear, they prevent you from achieving a higher band. To improve, work on mastering verb tenses, article usage, and ensuring accurate prepositional patterns.
