Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requirements clearly. You explain that your current contract is ending, describe the work you want in sales, customer service or marketing, and ask your friend to seek a reference from their sister. Your business and marketing studies also support your suitability for these roles. The purpose remains clear throughout, and the friendly opening and closing fit the audience. To make the ideas more fully developed, explain briefly what attracts you to a particular role or what kind of responsibilities you hope to take on. The request for help could also be more specific—for example, asking your friend to introduce you to their sister or pass on your CV—so the reader knows exactly what action would be useful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information follows a sensible sequence: you explain why you need work, outline your preferred field, and then ask for assistance. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, while phrases such as “As you know” and “I remember you told me” connect the letter to shared knowledge with your friend. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. Some links are less smooth, however. “So” is used repeatedly to introduce consequences, and the transition from describing your qualifications to mentioning the company’s vacancies could be clearer. The final request also contains several ideas in one sentence, making the connection between applying and asking for a reference harder to follow. Use a wider range of natural transitions and separate the request into clearer steps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “sales representative,” “customer service,” “marketing,” and “job openings.” The language is generally understandable, but the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward. For example, “secure future” needs a more natural expression, and “give me reference” does not use the usual phrasing for a professional recommendation. There are also spelling errors in “vaccancies” and “their” where “there” is intended. These do not prevent the reader from understanding your purpose, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common phrases for job applications, qualifications and professional references.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, such as “Due to my contract, my current job is about to end this month” and the sentence explaining your studies and knowledge. Most meaning remains clear, and the errors rarely obstruct communication. Some grammatical forms need more control: “I've a sad news” should be “I have some sad news,” while “which also helps me” does not agree naturally with the preceding reference to “another job.” In the final request, the clause beginning “which helps me” is also awkwardly attached and would be clearer as a separate sentence. Review articles, agreement and relative-clause structure, and use punctuation to break up longer sentences.
