Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear friend,
Hope you are doing well. I'm writing you beacause recently i have lost my job and currently i'm searching for a new one. Its getting really hard for me to survive without a job.
As you are already aware that I'm having a Master's Degree in finance & also having relevant work experience associated to it. So I'm looking to find the new job position in the same field as it will go properly with my carrer path. I'm particularly looking for managerial role as they can gavie me nice push start to my future career & lifestyle.
I know you are doing great in the well known MNC in the country. I would be really grateful to you if you can help me find a good job position. Also, if you can refer me to some job positon in your campany it would be a great help. I would love to hear back from you.
Your faithful,
Ram

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you explain that you lost your job and need work, identify finance and a managerial position as your preferred direction, and ask your friend both to help and to refer you within their company. The reference to your Master's degree and relevant experience supports your suitability, while the friendly opening and closing fit the purpose of the letter. The main opportunity is to develop the reasons and job preferences more specifically—for example, explain what attracts you to a managerial role or what kind of finance work you have done. This would make the ideas more fully extended rather than relying on general statements such as “a good job position.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: your situation is introduced first, your qualifications and preferred role follow, and the final paragraph makes the request for help. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and links such as “As you are already aware” and “Also” help connect ideas. The overall organisation is easy to follow. To make the flow more natural, avoid using “Also” to add a second request when the referral could be integrated into the same sentence, and use a more direct transition between your career preference and your friend’s ability to assist. The closing is appropriate, though “Your faithful” sounds unusually formal for a letter to a friend.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “Master's Degree in finance,” “work experience,” “managerial role,” and “refer me,” so your meaning is generally clear. However, the range and control are limited by several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “beacause,” “carrer,” “gavie,” “positon,” and “campany.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “push start to my future career & lifestyle” and “job position.” These errors keep the vocabulary from sounding consistently natural and precise. Check spelling carefully and choose common collocations that fit a friendly professional request, such as “career prospects” and “refer me for a position.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including the explanation beginning “As you are already aware” and the conditional request “if you can refer me.” The message remains understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “I'm writing you beacause” is missing “because” and a natural construction such as “I'm writing because”; “As you are already aware that” incorrectly combines two sentence patterns; and “if you can help me” would be more appropriate as “if you could help me” in this polite request. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “i” and “Its.” Practise accurate clause construction, articles and punctuation, while retaining the longer sentence forms you have attempted.
