Student answer (Band 5.0)
Daer Alex,
How are you? I hope you are doing well.
I am writing this letter to you because I need your help to finding a job. I have completed my degree successfully and currently I am searching for a full time new job. Is there is place in your work space to fit me in this position?
I have two years of experience in the business field. Moreover, In my degree I learned about business plan and leadership. I applied for this position in a few companies. Nevertheless, I did not get any response yet.
If I will get the job in your workplace I will
shift in nearby area so it would easier for me to travel. I would appreciate you if you could talk with your manager regarding this. Please let me know if you need my resume. I will be happy to send it over.
Your Friend,
Keya Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main purpose by explaining that you have completed your degree, are seeking full-time work, and have not received replies from other companies. You also ask Alex to speak with a manager and offer to send your résumé. However, the kind of job you want is not described clearly: “a full time new job” and “this position” do not specify a role, duties, or preferred field. Your reason for leaving or seeking work is also only partly explained, and the request for help could be more direct and specific. Develop these points so the reader understands what opportunity you are seeking and how Alex can assist.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter has a recognisable opening, body, and closing, and the ideas are generally grouped sensibly: your background and applications come before the request for help. Basic links such as “Moreover,” “Nevertheless,” and “If” help connect points. However, progression is not always clear. The question “Is there is place in your work space to fit me in this position?” appears before you explain your experience, and the later conditional about moving nearby is awkwardly connected to the request. Some transitions feel mechanical, while the paragraphing could more clearly separate your reason for job hunting, the role you want, and your request. Organising the letter around those three task points would make it easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate the general situation, including “degree,” “experience,” “leadership,” “manager,” and “resume.” There are also attempts at more specific work-related language, such as “business plan.” However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations sound unnatural, including “work space,” “fit me in this position,” and “shift in nearby area.” The opening name is misspelled as “Daer,” and “full time” would normally be written as “full-time” before a noun. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your purpose, but they make the letter less natural. Choose precise job-related terms and check spelling and common collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts at longer structures, such as “If I will get the job in your workplace I will shift in nearby area so it would easier for me to travel.” These attempts show some range, but several are not controlled: use “If I get” rather than “If I will get,” and the second clause needs “it would be easier.” Other examples include “I need your help to finding” (use “help finding” or “help to find”) and “Is there is place,” where the question structure is faulty. Missing articles and inconsistent punctuation also occur. Meaning is usually recoverable, but more accurate control of conditional forms, articles, and question structures would strengthen the letter.
