Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the main purpose by explaining that your current shop has not been successful, describing your interest in shopkeeping, and asking your friend to use their city contacts to help. These details make the request relevant and personal. However, the reason for seeking a new job is not fully clear: you mention financial difficulty and a poor response to your village shop, but do not explain what kind of work or income you now need. The preferred job is also somewhat mixed with a plan to open another shop. Clarify whether you want employment in a shop or help establishing a business, and give a little more detail about the role you hope to find.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter contains the required ideas, and the sequence from greeting to personal circumstances, job preference, request, and closing is broadly understandable. However, most of the message is presented as one long block, so the reader has to work to identify where one point ends and another begins. Several ideas are joined with repeated forms such as “but,” “because,” and “and,” while transitions between your current business, your wish to move, and the request for help are not always clear. Use separate paragraphs for the reason, the job you want, and your request. Shorter sentences and clearer links such as “As a result” or “I would therefore appreciate it if…” would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general situation, including “experience,” “shop,” “village,” “city,” and “business.” The reader can understand that you have run a shop and want your friend’s help. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “good health and wealth,” “my condition…is not good,” and “gave me a positive response.” Spelling errors, including “beacuse,” “shopkepper,” and “hospility,” also make the writing less clear and polished. Build a more precise set of phrases for employment and business, and check spelling and natural combinations before sending the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining your experience and asking your friend to use their contacts. However, these complex attempts are often faulty, and the response relies heavily on long strings of clauses rather than controlled sentence patterns. Examples include “You have any kind of job” and “it could not gave me,” where question structure and verb forms are inaccurate. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “my friends shop” and the run-on opening after “Dear Friend.” Use straightforward complete sentences first, then add a few accurately formed clauses. Check question word order, past-tense forms, and sentence boundaries.
