Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: you explain that after three years as a supervisor you want a change and further development, identify technology-related work as your preference, and ask Jay to look for a suitable position and refer you. The purpose and friendly relationship are clear throughout, and the letter includes an appropriate greeting and sign-off. Your reasons are relevant, but some are expressed in broad terms—for example, “expand my knowledge and personal growth” and “fulfill my dreams”—without explaining what specific technology work or career goal you have in mind. Adding one or two details about the role you want and why it suits you would make the ideas more fully supported and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your news, explain your reasons, describe the type of work you want, and then make your request. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and links such as “Recently” and “Although” show relationships between ideas. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are repetitive or awkward, particularly the repeated references to “new job” and “growth.” In the technology paragraph, the sentence beginning “The work includes computer…” combines several ideas without a clear progression. Use shorter, more focused sentences and clearer references to connect the kind of work you want with the opportunity it offers.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a personal letter, including relevant terms such as “supervisor,” “different sector,” “professional growth,” and “refer me.” These choices communicate your situation and career interests. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, such as “work related to new technology,” “personal growth even more,” and “great connection with company's owners.” Repetition of “new job,” “work,” and “growth” limits the flexibility of the vocabulary. Aim for more precise job-related expressions and natural collocations; this would help you describe your preferred role and your friend’s assistance more clearly while retaining the friendly tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Although working in the current company…” and the reason introduced by “as.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, clause structure, and articles. For example, “I am really hope” should use a suitable verb form, while “I want to be work” has an incorrect infinitive construction. “As you already knew that” also creates an unnecessary and faulty clause structure. In “I can able to fulfill,” the modal construction is not formed correctly. Review verb patterns after “want,” modal verbs, and article use, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
