Dear Anthony,
I hope you're doing great. At present, I am currently seeking for a new job in IT industry and recently I have completed my Post graduate certificate in web development. As you're already working in this field, so i thought to get a reference from you.
I'm interested in the position which is software developer. This closely aligned with my nature of study. Moreover, I have worked as junior front end developer in my home country which has nurtured my skills in a well defined manner.
The purpose of writing this letter is to get a aid from you. As you've been working in this industry for a long time. Therefore, I am hoping to get a reference in your company. Yours company is a recognised hub for these kind of jobs. Kindly help me out to land my first job.
Thank you,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the three requested points: you explain that you are seeking work after completing a postgraduate certificate, identify software development as your preferred field, and ask Anthony for a reference. However, the reasons for changing jobs are not fully clear: the qualification and previous experience are mentioned, but you do not explain what is unsatisfactory about your current situation or why you want to move. The type of role is also only briefly described, and the request focuses on a reference at your friend’s company rather than asking more broadly for help finding a job. The response is 145 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum. Develop these points with a specific reason, job preferences, and a clear request for practical help.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening explains your situation, the next paragraph describes your preferred role, and the final paragraph makes a request. This makes the main purpose easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “As you’ve been working in this industry for a long time.” However, some connections are mechanical or confusing. “As you’re already working in this field, so…” combines two linking structures, while “Therefore” repeats the cause-and-result relationship in the final paragraph. The request is also repeated rather than developed. To strengthen progression, connect each paragraph more naturally and use the final section to specify how Anthony could help, such as sharing vacancies or introducing you to a recruiter.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the topic and includes relevant terms such as “web development,” “software developer,” “junior front end developer,” and “reference.” You also attempt more formal expressions, including “closely aligned” and “recognised hub,” showing some range. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “seeking for a new job,” “get a aid,” and “land my first job” do not fit the intended meaning precisely. “First job” is especially unclear because you say you have already worked as a junior developer. Choose natural job-search phrases and describe your experience consistently. More precise language for the role and the kind of assistance you need would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple and more complex sentence forms, including “As you’ve been working in this industry for a long time” and “which has nurtured my skills.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in basic patterns and in attempts to link clauses. For example, “As you’re already working in this field, so…” uses two conjunctions where one is needed, and “the position which is software developer” has an incomplete construction. There are also article and agreement problems in “get a aid” and “Yours company,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation of “i.” Aim for more accurate sentence patterns, for example, “I’m interested in a software developer position,” and proofread articles, pronouns, and punctuation before sending.
