Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear John,
I hope you are doing great. I am writing to express my disappointment about the noise coming from your apartment continuously which extremely bothering me to reside peacefully.
To begin with, the main reason is that my schedule is occupied nowadays, a hardly get a time to relax however when I go to sleep I get easily irritated from the noise of music coming from your apartment at late nights.
Moreover, I am preparing for my exam sometime I want to sleep early to wakeup early in the morning but due to loud sounds I am unable to take rest properly.
Furthermore, I would really appreciate if you make some changes to your routine you can play that music in the day time instead of night time and after 10pm just stop all kind of noises. Therefore, everybody can get relax and do their work peacefully.
Thankyou for your time and consideration. I would like to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
Divya.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, maintaining a polite yet firm stance. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development could be slightly more sophisticated. For instance, the explanation of the impact on your studies is clear, but could be expanded with more descriptive language to better convey the frustration. Overall, the task is fully addressed, and the purpose of the letter is immediately clear to the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used transition words such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your paragraphs and points. While these are effective, the use of 'Therefore' in the fourth paragraph is slightly awkward in this context, as it does not logically follow the previous sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the problem, and the proposed solution. The flow is generally smooth, though some of the sentence structures could be more varied to improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'reside peacefully' and 'consideration' are well-chosen. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'my schedule is occupied nowadays' (better: 'my schedule is very busy') and 'I get easily irritated from the noise' (better: 'irritated by the noise'). Additionally, 'a hardly get a time' contains a grammatical error that affects the lexical flow. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow, such as 'I am writing to express my disappointment about the noise coming from your apartment continuously which extremely bothering me' (missing auxiliary verb 'is' and incorrect relative clause structure). Other errors include 'sometime I want to sleep' (should be 'sometimes') and 'I would like to hearing from you' (should be 'hearing' to 'hear'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to limit the score in this criterion.
