Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear neighbour,
I am Amrit and I am living on 3rd floor which is 1 floor down from your room. I hope this letter finds you well. Actually todayI am writing this letter regarding the noise which harmed the apartment environment.
Commencing with the situation, from last few week I noticed that the music play very louder even after midnight which disturbed not only to me but also to other residential people. I bother from this noise because as I am student I organized my whole schedule. However, due to this problem I am unable to get good sleep and not able to do practice for my examination which is in next week.
Turning towards the solution, It is my humble request can you please avoid music after 10pm. I know every play music for relaxation but please try to manage according to the situations. Also, please do not shout after 9pm. Otherwise I have to report to the police.
Thank you for considering my request. I respect you and your time.
Yours neighbour,
Amrit

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact on your studies, and suggesting a solution. However, the tone is inconsistent. While the letter starts politely, the final paragraph includes a threat to call the police, which is overly aggressive for a first-time request to a neighbour and undermines the effectiveness of the communication. To improve, ensure the tone remains consistently polite and cooperative throughout, as this is more likely to achieve the desired result in a real-world scenario.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Commencing with' and 'Turning towards', although these feel slightly mechanical or unnatural in a personal letter. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the problem to the impact and finally the solution. To improve, try using more natural linking phrases such as 'I am writing to you because...' or 'I would really appreciate it if...'.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'residential', 'organized', and 'relaxation'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'harmed the apartment environment' (which is unnatural) and 'music play very louder' (should be 'is played very loudly'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary is generally quite basic. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding awkward phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement ('music play') and article usage ('on 3rd floor'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar (e.g., 'from last few week', 'I bother from this noise') prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and the correct use of prepositions.
