Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact on your work, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, maintaining a polite yet firm request. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development could be slightly more sophisticated. For instance, the explanation of why the noise is a problem is clear, but the suggestion could be more specific regarding the times you need quiet. Overall, the task is fully addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the problem description, followed by the impact and the proposed solution. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore', 'Moreover', and 'That's why', which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is a bit cramped, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'night shift', 'privacy', and 'volume'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'mostely', 'excelly', 'jummping', and 'thankfull'. Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'take sleep' instead of 'get some sleep' or 'do something about this early' instead of 'at your earliest convenience'. Improving spelling and refining collocations would help you reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentences, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, there are missing articles ('take sleep' should be 'get some sleep'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Your friends plays' should be 'Your friends play'), and run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for small errors will be beneficial.
