Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While all three bullet points (describe the situation, explain the problem, and suggest a solution) are addressed, the development of these ideas is extremely limited. The explanation of why the noise is a problem is brief, and the proposed solution lacks the necessary detail and polite tone expected in a formal or semi-formal letter. To improve, you must expand on your ideas, providing more context and a more structured approach to your request to ensure the letter is sufficiently developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas in a letter format. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences together. For example, the transition between describing the noise and requesting a solution is abrupt. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for the introduction, body, and conclusion, and incorporate linking words such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'therefore' to create a more logical progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'reason' and 'noise.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'doing study' instead of 'studying' and 'place in ground' instead of 'play outside.' The range of vocabulary is limited, which hinders the ability to express the situation with the necessary precision or appropriate tone. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to the context of living arrangements and noise disturbances.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including run-on sentences and punctuation issues, such as 'I hope you're doing great well I am writing.' The use of tenses is inconsistent, and there are errors in basic sentence structure, such as 'as it is vacation even now days.' The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on using a mix of complex sentence structures and ensure that your punctuation and verb tenses are accurate to improve the overall clarity of your writing.
