Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the situation is described, the impact on your studies is explained, and a solution is proposed. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, maintaining a polite and friendly approach. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the noise is a problem could be more detailed, and the proposed solution is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more specific detail or a more formal structure to better convey the urgency of the situation while maintaining the friendly tone required for a letter to a neighbour.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of information. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'thirdly' to structure your points. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the use of punctuation is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the flow. For example, the sentence structure in the second paragraph is a bit fragmented. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more smoothly to create a more natural progression of ideas throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms such as 'concentrate', 'distract', and 'performance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'loud voice of music' (should be 'loud music') and 'ruined our friendship' (should be 'ruin our friendship'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'related to your side' and 'hope this agenda will resolve soon'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'i have exam' (should be 'I have an exam') and 'when i will not at home' (should be 'when I am not at home'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters for 'I' and at the start of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity and professionalism of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors will lead to significant improvement.
