Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Vikram,
I am writing this to express my concern regarding the unfortunate experience being encountered by me over past few weeks. I have been quietly living in this property from last 3 years without causing any hurdle for the management and other residents.
Promptly, I am suffering from excessive noise coming straight from your appartment even late in the night which is impacting me negatively concentrating on my academics as well as my sleep. Since I have to wake early in the morning as I commute to other city for my job it is making me unable to sleep till late night.
I kindly request you to stop completely or atleast lower the volume of the music so that this problem can be cured. This could be the best measure that can be performed in order to live peacefully.
I hope you will look into this

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. However, the response is 147 words, which falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement. This under-length negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, the development of ideas is slightly thin. To improve, you should expand on the specific nature of the noise or provide more detail regarding the impact on your daily routine to ensure the response is sufficiently developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Since' and 'so that', to link your points. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'Promptly, I am suffering', where the transition is unnatural. To reach a higher band, ensure that your linking words are used more naturally and that the transition between your description of the problem and your proposed solution is smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'academics', 'commute', and 'management'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'unfortunate experience being encountered by me' is wordy and unnatural, and 'problem can be cured' is an inappropriate collocation for noise complaints. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding overly complex, passive constructions will help improve your lexical precision and make your writing sound more authentic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Since I have to wake early... it is making me unable to sleep'. However, there are several grammatical errors, including 'from last 3 years' (should be 'for the last 3 years') and 'to other city' (missing article). Additionally, 'Promptly' is used incorrectly to mean 'currently'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing.
