Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Ramesh,
I am writing this letter to explain you about the noise coming from your apartment disturbs me a lot. I am you neighbour who is living downstairs. Last night, there was a lot of noise coming from your apartment, it was the party music. Apart from that, I am a student and my exam are going on, so it become a daunting task for me to stay focused on my studies due to of loud party music.
I know you are so caring neighbour I had never faced any issue from your side before. Party is also very important in order to refresh our mood or to gather all the friends together so that we can spend quality time with them. But you can make the volume down so that I can also concentrate on my exams and you can also enjoy the party music.
Thank You so much for understanding my situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact on your studies, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, maintaining a polite and constructive approach. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the noise is a problem is brief, and the solution could be more specific regarding future communication or specific quiet hours. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more detail to fully satisfy the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the problem to the impact and finally to a proposed solution. Paragraphing is used, though the second paragraph is quite long and could be split to improve readability. Cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that' and 'But' are used, but they are somewhat basic. The transition between the complaint and the compliment about the neighbour is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'daunting task' and 'quality time' are used effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'make the volume down' (should be 'turn the volume down') and 'my exam are going on' (should be 'my exams are taking place'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions that are natural in a formal or semi-formal letter context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'I am you neighbour' (should be 'your'), 'my exam are' (should be 'exams are'), and 'due to of' (should be 'due to'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage to improve your control over sentence construction.
