Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the noise, explaining the impact on your work and rest, and suggesting the use of headphones. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the tone is inconsistent, shifting between formal and informal. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the lack of a structured paragraph format makes it difficult to follow the progression of your argument. To improve, ensure each bullet point is addressed in a distinct paragraph with more precise language regarding the specific nature of the disturbance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas in a formal letter. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. You rely heavily on simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'so' to connect thoughts, which makes the writing feel repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and incorporate a wider range of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' to create a smoother logical progression between your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite basic and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'problem', 'work', and 'noise'. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'apatment', 'musci', 'consistrat', 'opplogized', 'publibe') and incorrect word choices, such as 'perfectly' instead of 'properly' or 'at nice' instead of 'at night'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the limited range of vocabulary and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent the writing from achieving a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptive terms would greatly enhance your communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('in my apartment'), incorrect verb forms ('i bit busy'), and issues with sentence structure ('i hoped you will be dont mind'). You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of control over basic punctuation and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to incorporate a mix of simple and complex sentences to demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
