Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter covers all three bullet points: the situation is described, the impact on your sleep and work is explained, and a solution is proposed. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a neighbour. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the timing of the noise. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph adds new information rather than restating the same facts. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the reader is left in no doubt about the nature of the complaint and the desired outcome.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally' to structure the response. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the punctuation is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the reading process. For example, the run-on sentence in the third paragraph ('...I can sleep and then again I have to wake up at 6:00 am') lacks proper conjunctions or full stops to separate distinct ideas. Improving the use of linking words and punctuation would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms such as 'disturb', 'proper', and 'grateful'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'noise frequently come' (should be 'noise frequently comes') and 'on same location on my lobby' (which is slightly unnatural). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focusing on learning common collocations related to complaints and formal requests would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('noise... come'), missing articles ('at 9:00 pm music'), and run-on sentences. For instance, 'I am living right downstairs of your apartment which disturb me alot' contains a relative clause error and a spelling error ('alot' should be 'a lot'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the text.
