Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter effectively covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You clearly described the situation by explaining that loud music comes from your neighbour's apartment. You explained why it is a problem for you by detailing how the disturbance ruins your sleep, causes fatigue, and ultimately leads to you being late for work, affecting both your professional and physical life. Furthermore, you suggested a practical solution, which is for your neighbour to use headphones or airbuds when listening to music. The tone is mostly appropriate for a neighbourly letter, though slightly direct in places. All parts of the prompt are addressed adequately, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure from describing the problem to suggesting a solution. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped; the entire main body of the letter is compressed into two very dense blocks of text rather than being broken down into distinct paragraphs for each point. Additionally, cohesive devices are somewhat repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on conjunctions like 'and' and 'so' to link clauses together, such as in the sentence '...and I do work at the office for a long time and after this...'. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of proper paragraphing holds this criterion back at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message successfully. You use some appropriate terms related to work and daily life, such as 'working women' and 'professional life'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'relates to you' instead of 'relates to your apartment', 'at my apartment' instead of 'in my apartment', and 'at the morning time' instead of 'in the morning'. There are also minor spelling and phrasing inaccuracies, such as 'airbuds' instead of 'earbuds'. These errors do not impede communication, placing your lexical performance solidly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in your grammar. However, your sentences tend to be overly long run-on sentences connected by multiple coordinating conjunctions, which reduces structural clarity. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as tense and preposition misuse ('try to getting good sleep' instead of 'try to get a good sleep', 'effect my physical and professional life' where 'effect' should be the verb 'affect', and 'hearing to you' instead of 'hearing from you'). Punctuation is also weak, with commas overused to link independent clauses. Due to the frequency of these grammatical slips, this criterion aligns with Band 5.5.
