Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three bullet points from the prompt effectively. You successfully describe the situation by mentioning the noise coming from upstairs, including high-volume music and loud laughing. You explain why it is a problem for you by stating that you come home late from work needing rest, that your open doors allow the noise to travel into your apartment, and crucially that your exams have started and you cannot focus on your studies. Finally, you suggest a practical solution, asking your neighbour to close their door properly and turn down the volume of their music during late-night parties. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, though it is slightly too direct in places. Overall, the requirements of the task have been fully and clearly addressed, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, starting with a salutation, followed by an introduction of the issue, the personal impact, proposed solutions, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'As for late night parties' and 'thats the reason that'. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes mechanical or abrupt, particularly in the second paragraph where multiple ideas run together without sufficient linking. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate the introduction, body details, and solutions, but overall cohesion could be smoother. These features place the response solidly at a Band 6 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, successfully communicating everyday concepts such as 'high volume music', 'front door', and 'late night parties'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'writting' instead of writing, 'opend' instead of opened, and 'alreday' instead of already. Phrasing like 'tell the issue that I face from your house' is unnatural and awkward. While you attempt some less common expressions, frequent inaccuracies in spelling and collocation keep your score at Band 5.5, as these errors occasionally strain the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I would appreciate if you close your door properly when watching or playing games so I dont get disturbed'. However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing prepositions ('from few days' instead of 'for a few days'), tense issues ('my exams are alreday started'), and run-on sentences with punctuation omissions. While these errors do not completely obscure the message, their high frequency across the short text prevents the response from reaching a Band 6, placing it appropriately at Band 5.0.
