Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points of the task. You clearly describe the situation regarding the continuous noise coming from your upstairs neighbor's apartment. You explain why this is a problem by detailing how the sounds of moving furniture, loud music, and falling dishes disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your daytime work productivity. Furthermore, you suggest a practical solution by asking him to turn down the volume of his music and reschedule furniture moving to daytime hours. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint to a neighbor, and the purpose is clear throughout the text, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical progression and overall arrangement. The opening sets the context, followed by body paragraphs addressing the specific disturbances and their impact, and concluding with a proposed solution and polite sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, there are some minor mechanical issues with cohesion, such as the transition 'Moving-further', which is slightly unnatural compared to standard cohesive phrases like 'Furthermore' or 'In addition'. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall organization meets the criteria for a well-structured letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common phrases such as 'productivity', 'disturbance in sleeping pattern', and 'relocate'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'continoues' and 'continous' instead of continuous, and 'volumn' instead of volume. Expressions like 'falling dishes on the floors' and 'paying attention on others convenience' could also be phrased more naturally. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The letter features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'whenever you need to move the furniture items, try to relocate in the day time as much as possible'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'that constantly coming' (missing auxiliary verb 'is'), 'As you are living in the upper floor' (preposition error, should be 'on'), and 'move the volumn down' (word order). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors are present, they rarely impede overall understanding.
