Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You described the situation by mentioning the noise coming from your upstairs neighbour's door and music playing, explained why it is a problem because of your long twelve-hour factory shifts and need for rest, and suggested practical solutions such as lowering device volume or installing a sound stopper. Although some ideas are slightly repetitive, such as repeatedly mentioning the sound stopper, the overall purpose of the letter is clear and all communication requirements are met, earning a solid mid-level score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The organisation of the letter is quite basic and lacks proper paragraphing, as the entire text is presented as a single continuous block. There is a lack of clear cohesive devices and logical transitions between sentences, with ideas running together using run-on structures. For instance, phrases are chained directly without appropriate punctuation or conjunctions to guide the reader smoothly. Improving cohesion requires breaking your writing into distinct paragraphs for the greeting, the description of the problem, the impact on your rest, and your proposed solutions, alongside better use of linking words.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is fairly basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'sufer', 'noice', 'becouse', 'bouther', 'volium', 'sttoper', 'fectory', and 'listning'. While these errors do not completely obscure your meaning, they noticeable strain the reader. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your range of vocabulary by using more precise words and demonstrating correct spelling control for everyday terms related to housing, noise complaints, and working hours.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates an extremely limited control of sentence structures. The text relies heavily on long run-on sentences connected incorrectly by commas or conjunctions, missing capitalisation and proper terminal punctuation. For example, sentences like 'this is soo weird to tell you about the setuation that i am sufring from becouse of my busy hours duity i need to take proper rest' contain multiple clauses fused together without adequate demarcation. To improve, you need to use shorter, distinct sentences, apply accurate subject-verb agreement, and properly manage complex sentence forms with correct punctuation.
