Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, earning a score that spans the threshold into the higher band. You address the situation by describing the loud music and parties with friends, explain why it is a problem by mentioning your upcoming exam and difficulty concentrating in a noisy environment, and suggest a solution by asking your neighbour to wrap up entertainment earlier and lower the speaker volume. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or simplistic, such as the vague mention of 'cons on my study as well as future', which prevents a fully extended exploration of the points. To reach the next level, you should expand on your ideas with greater detail and ensure every bullet point is thoroughly justified and elaborated.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter maintains a generally coherent overall arrangement, allowing the reader to follow the narrative of your complaint easily. You cover the required functions of a letter by describing the problem, explaining its impact, and offering solutions. However, paragraphing is somewhat weak, and the inclusion of a bullet-point style heading ('Purpose of the letter...') disrupts the natural flow of correspondence. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or basic, such as repetitive use of 'and then' and 'so'. To achieve a higher score, you should ensure smoother transitions between sentences and organise your ideas into clear, traditional paragraphs without relying on non-standard letter headings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items to discuss your situation. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices that stem from incorrect word forms or collocations, such as 'awaring you' instead of 'notifying you', 'accomodation' with a spelling error, 'nosily enviourment' containing spelling mistakes, and 'sound less volume speaker' instead of 'turn down the volume'. Furthermore, phrases like 'wrap up your entretainment' and 'bass one' border on informal. To improve this score, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary more accurately, pay closer attention to spelling, and ensure that word forms and collocations match natural English usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional clauses ('if i would unable to do study then there would cons...'). However, your writing contains frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. There are issues with verb forms and tenses, such as 'I am written this letter' instead of 'I am writing', article usage errors ('in a noisy environment', 'an exam'), prepositional patterns ('noise which is created by your side' instead of 'coming from your apartment'), and subject-verb agreement ('loud music... which become a barrier'). To reach a higher band, you must increase your control over complex structures and eliminate basic grammatical errors.
