Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you describe noise from children playing football in the evening, explain that it affects your work from home, and ask the neighbour to keep the noise down or use the designated area. The considerate tone, including “I am glad that they are energetic and having fun,” is appropriate for a neighbourly letter. However, the reason is only briefly explained, and the proposed solution could be more specific or collaborative. The response also does not meet the required minimum of 150 words, so there is limited space to develop these ideas. Add details about when the noise is most disruptive and suggest a practical arrangement, such as agreed quiet hours.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally sensible order: it raises the noise issue, explains its effect, and then proposes a solution. This makes the main purpose understandable. However, the ideas are compressed into short, uneven paragraphs, and the transition from the opening to the explanation is not always smooth. The connector “however” is not clearly separated from the preceding sentence, while the final hope for a solution feels abrupt. Use clear paragraphing for the situation, its impact, and the request, and connect these sections with simple, accurate transitions. A more complete closing would also help the letter feel finished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “constantly disturbed,” “quality of my work,” and “possible solution,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “designated area,” although spelling errors and some unnatural phrasing reduce precision. For example, “the noise which seems to be generated from playing football” is wordy, and “my it starts in the evening” does not clearly express the intended meaning. Check spelling carefully and choose direct, natural collocations. For instance, you could say that the children’s football “creates noise” and that it “disrupts my evening work.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its main message using a mixture of simple statements and longer clauses, such as the sentence explaining that you work from home and the noise affects your work. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence-boundary and punctuation problems make the letter less fluent. The opening “Hope this finds you well, i am writing…” joins two sentences with a comma, and “however” should begin a properly punctuated sentence. There are also incomplete or unclear constructions, particularly “my it starts in the evening.” Use complete sentences, capitalise “I,” and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb. These changes would improve accuracy while preserving your direct style.
