Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main situation, explain that construction noise affects your study time, and suggest asking the contractor to use quieter machines. These points are relevant, but the task is only partially developed: the description is brief, the effect on your work and studies could be explained more fully, and the proposed solution is limited to one request. The opening “Dear neighbours” is also less directly addressed to the upstairs neighbour. The response does not meet the required minimum of 150 words, which leaves little space to develop the three requested points. Add specific details, such as when the noise occurs and how it disrupts your routine, and suggest a practical alternative, such as agreed quiet hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The letter follows a broadly understandable order: you introduce yourself, describe the noise, explain its impact, and make a request. However, the ideas are compressed into one main paragraph, so the reader does not see clear stages or a strong progression. Linking is also limited; “moreover” does not clearly connect your night work to the need for quiet during the afternoon, and “though” is not used naturally to introduce the request. Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its effects, and your proposed solution. Choose straightforward links such as “Because of this” and “Would it be possible to…” to make the relationships between ideas clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic issue, including “loud noise,” “construction,” “concentrate,” and “machines.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling or word-choice errors make the letter less clear or less appropriate in tone. Examples include “sevral,” “adress,” “contactor,” and the informal “wanna.” The phrase “noise cancellation system” is understandable but not a natural description of construction equipment; “quieter machinery” would be clearer. Aim for accurate spelling and a polite, consistent register, using phrases such as “ongoing construction noise,” “disrupts my studies,” and “reduce the noise.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies mainly on simple statements and attempts a few longer sentences, but these are often faulty. For example, “i am pleased to say i live in same building” is missing an article and has awkward sentence construction, while “my study time is between 2 pm to 5 pm though its a humbe request” joins ideas without a correct grammatical link. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and a run-on sentence after “moreover.” These errors sometimes make the message harder to follow. Practise accurate sentence boundaries, articles, and conjunctions, then combine ideas using controlled structures such as “Because I work nights, I need quiet in the afternoon.”
