Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Amrit,
I hope you and your family are doing well. Actually I just want to inform you that last week, when you stayed at my apartment during that trip period pot was broken from you.
First, when I came back to home after a trip I noticed that a valuable flower pot was broken, which is crucial for me because it is gifted by my grandmother while I was in college. Now she is no more but still I am emotionally connected with pot. In addition, it was broken from you so, please inform me that it was broken from you.
Moreover, I know that it was not intentialy happened from you. So, you can simply get the same pot from shop or online, it is still available on many platforms and I am sharing you the picture of pot. You can match image with new one like the color and design of pot, which I will appreciate that.
See you soon with new pot and take care.
Best wishes,
Rajbir.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points: describing the broken item, explaining its significance, and stating what you would like your friend to do. However, the tone is somewhat inconsistent. While you are writing to a friend, the phrasing 'please inform me that it was broken from you' is awkward and slightly accusatory, which may not be appropriate for a friendly letter. Additionally, the explanation of the item's importance is clear, but the request for action could be more naturally phrased. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the development of ideas lacks a natural, conversational flow expected in a personal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First', 'In addition', and 'Moreover' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'broken from you' is used multiple times, which disrupts the flow. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the broken pot and the request for an explanation is slightly confusing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'valuable possession', 'emotionally connected', and 'platforms'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'broken from you' (instead of 'broken by you') and 'intentialy happened' (instead of 'happened intentionally'). These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically accurate in context. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter. Examples include 'it is gifted by my grandmother' (should be 'it was gifted'), 'she is no more' (a bit unnatural; 'she has passed away' is better), and 'I am sharing you the picture' (should be 'I am sharing a picture with you'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on verb tenses and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy significantly.
