Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the broken item, explaining its significance, and requesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why the item is important relies on repetitive phrasing ('kept it safe', 'kept near to my heart'). While the task is fully addressed, the depth of the response could be improved by providing more descriptive detail about the item or a more nuanced approach to the request for restitution to better engage the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and somewhat mechanical. There is a reliance on simple conjunctions like 'and' and 'because'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'as a result') to improve the flow between sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic descriptors like 'most favorite' and 'beautiful'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'flower plot' instead of 'flower pot' and 'doon' instead of 'soon'. To improve, try to use more specific adjectives and collocations. For example, instead of saying 'I always try to kept it safe', you could use 'I took great care to preserve it'. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express your feelings more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs. Examples include 'you already left' (should be 'you had already left'), 'I used to kept' (should be 'I used to keep'), and 'when she get to know' (should be 'when she gets to know'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While they do not impede overall communication, they demonstrate a lack of control over basic grammatical rules, which limits the score in this criterion.
