Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the broken television, explain its sentimental value as an 18th birthday gift, and state what you would like your friend to do regarding repairs or replacement. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a balance between being firm about the damage and remaining polite. The ideas are well-developed and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. You have successfully fulfilled all requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use some cohesive devices like 'although' and 'if possible' to link ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent, making the letter easy to read and understand.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'valuable possession', 'sentimental', and 'appreciate'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'WRITTING', 'BEACUSE', 'RETUREND', 'YESETRDAY', 'IMPROTANT', and 'REPLACINF'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall impression. To reach a higher band, you should focus on proofreading your work to ensure accuracy in common vocabulary and improve your spelling consistency.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I would appreciate it if you could help with the cost'. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'one of my valuable possession' (should be 'possessions'), 'working good' (should be 'working well'), and 'I have had this from several years' (should be 'for several years'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent. Increasing your control over verb tenses and prepositions will help improve your score.
