Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Harsimran,
How are you doing?. Last month while i was away on business trip i agreed to let you visit my pace and stay until I returned. I hope you enjoyed your time. But the crucial thingh I wanted to talk about is a lamp which i found broken after returning from the trip.
As you know it was a gift given to me by my family members after I completed my study and hold a special place in my heart with the memories of being proud on me.
I am quite angry about it but there is nothing we can do about it as no amount of money can replace that. However, I still want you to find a good lamp artist how can create a replica or fix the existing one. So i can keep it back on my display.
i would love to hear about your part and will be waiting for your response.
your Faithfully ,
Parminder Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the item, explaining its importance, and stating what you would like your friend to do. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, although it leans slightly towards being overly formal in the closing. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. To improve, ensure that the explanation of the item's importance is more fully developed to better convey the emotional weight, as the current explanation is a bit brief. Overall, you have successfully completed the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the context of the visit to the issue at hand and finally to the requested resolution. Paragraphing is used to separate these ideas, which helps the reader follow your train of thought. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited; you rely heavily on simple conjunctions like 'but' and 'and'. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'given that') would improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs, making the writing feel more cohesive and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'crucial', 'replica', and 'possession'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'thingh' instead of 'thing' and 'pace' instead of 'place'. Additionally, the phrase 'keep it back on my display' is slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'i was away on business trip' (missing an article), 'memories of being proud on me' (incorrect preposition), and 'how can create' (should be 'who can create'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and commas. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing. Focusing on article usage and subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
