Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses the prompt requirements by describing the damage and explaining the importance of the items. However, the tone is overly aggressive and accusatory, which is inappropriate for a letter to a friend, even one who has caused damage. The response ends abruptly mid-sentence ('If t'), which means the final bullet point regarding what the friend should do is not fully addressed. While the initial points are covered, the lack of a clear resolution or request for action, combined with the incomplete ending, limits the task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, appearing as a single block of text. While there is a basic attempt to sequence ideas, the flow is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as 'Since examine the all'. The lack of a proper closing and the abrupt ending significantly disrupt the coherence of the letter, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended progression of the message.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and often misused. Phrases like 'absolutely got damaged' and 'my heart was ached' are unnatural and demonstrate a lack of control over collocations. The student relies on basic, repetitive words such as 'apartment', 'broken', and 'valuable'. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or precise language to describe the situation. The errors in word choice occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the specific nature of the damage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are significant issues with verb tenses ('As i given you', 'Whatever valuable kept'), sentence construction ('I am writing this letter to letting you know'), and article usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. These frequent errors, combined with the incomplete final sentence, indicate a limited control over grammatical structures.
