Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant problems, including noise from a neighbour, a non-working air conditioner and fan, and damage to the walls. You also ask the manager to visit and check the apartment, so the main purpose is understandable. However, the request for repairs is not clearly specified, and the high bills are introduced without explaining what action you expect the manager to take. The letter therefore addresses the task only partially, with several ideas left under-developed. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain the problems and proposed solutions. Add details about when the faults began and clearly request repairs or an inspection of each issue.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The reader can identify a sequence of complaints and a request for the manager to visit, and you use a few linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Apart from that.” However, the ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, so the letter has little clear progression. Some links are awkward or do not show the relationship between ideas clearly, as in “Apart from, that” and “However” before the billing complaint. The opening and closing are also separated from the body without consistent letter formatting. Organise the letter into short paragraphs—for example, one for the faults, one for the requested action, and one for the visit—and use simple, accurate transitions between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “apartment,” “noise,” “electricity,” “water,” and “walls.” Some wording is also relevant to a repair request, such as “check” the problems. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts harder to understand: “noice,” “requst,” “collour,” and “thanfull” are noticeable, while “the heat also in summer” does not clearly express the intended problem. Phrases such as “so many problems” and “all problem” are vague and repetitive. Use more precise terms such as “heating system,” “repair,” and “utility bills,” and check spelling and natural collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “the AC is not working … as well as the heat,” and “when we are using the less electricity … than we get more bill.” These attempts show some range, but the structures are often faulty, and errors can make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “i am writing to letter,” “where i am living there,” and “if you can solve this all problems i will thanfull you more.” Articles, word order, verb forms, and sentence boundaries need more control. Practise writing clear simple sentences first, then combine related points with accurate conjunctions. Also use capital letters for “I” and begin sentences with appropriate punctuation.
