Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the problems (AC and laundry), suggesting solutions (repair/replace), and requesting a visit. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a building manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited by grammatical errors, and the structure of the request could be more clearly articulated. While the purpose is clear, the flow of information regarding the previous interaction with the mechanic is slightly repetitive. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the response would benefit from more precise language to ensure the manager understands the urgency and the specific nature of the requests.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In addition to it' and 'However', though these are sometimes used incorrectly or sound slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the description of the problems to the requested actions. However, the referencing is occasionally weak, and the transition between the laundry issue and the request for a visit could be smoother. The paragraphing is sufficient for a letter of this length.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate the problems effectively. There are some instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'mechanical' instead of 'mechanic', 'affective' instead of 'effective', and 'take a glance of' instead of 'take a look at'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they indicate a limited range of vocabulary and some issues with collocation. To reach a higher band, the writer should focus on using more precise terminology for household appliances and professional requests.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the laundry machine', 'the air conditioner'), verb tenses ('is not working from last week'), and word order. For example, 'mechanic for air condition should be send soon for assist me' contains multiple errors in passive voice and prepositional usage. While these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, they rarely impede the overall meaning. The writer needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve accuracy.
