Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the problem, suggesting a solution, and requesting a visit. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. The description of the problems (shower and window) is clear, but the tone is slightly informal for a formal letter to a building manager. The request for a visit is included, but the phrasing is a bit repetitive and lacks the professional polish expected in a formal complaint. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the ideas could be expanded with more professional language to better suit the context of a formal request.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as the transition 'Moreover, my name is...' which does not logically follow the opening sentence. There are also issues with punctuation, particularly the lack of spaces after commas and periods, which disrupts the flow of the text. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the inconsistent paragraph structure prevent a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of repetitive or imprecise word choices, such as 'plenty of problems raising' and 'look and find out the solutions'. The phrase 'broken broken' is a clear error, and 'pass throughoy' appears to be a typo. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to basic, everyday language. To improve, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to apartment maintenance and formal correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. These include subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'shower... is not working'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'from last couple of weeks'), and punctuation errors (e.g., missing spaces after punctuation, unnecessary capitalisation). Additionally, the closing 'Yours faithful' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'Yours faithfully'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over basic grammatical rules.
