Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the problem, suggesting a solution, and requesting a visit. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. The description of the cooling and heating issue is clear enough to be understood, but the language is repetitive and lacks detail. The request for a technician is relevant, but the overall tone is slightly informal for a formal letter to a building manager. While the task requirements are met, the ideas could be expanded with more specific details about the nature of the malfunction to better justify the urgency of the request.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition 'However' is used incorrectly at the start of the third paragraph, as it does not contrast with the previous sentence. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed due to grammatical errors. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of referencing limit the score in this category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'donig' instead of 'doing', 'techines' for 'technicians', 'talke' for 'talk', and 'replay' for 'reply'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. The student relies on simple, repetitive phrasing like 'facing a issue' and 'have same issue'. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and improve spelling accuracy, particularly with common professional terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'I am Devvrat Chavda leave in your Apartment' (incorrect verb form), 'when I on the cooling system it not work' (missing auxiliary verbs), and 'which create difficultly to saty in home' (spelling and preposition errors). These errors are persistent and occasionally impede the flow of reading. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over basic sentence construction and verb tenses prevents a higher score.
