Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to mention you that my corridor room's door lock is broken. because of that during rainy days, I face a lot of difficulties water comes inside in our living room and last week during thunderstorms my whole house become dirty because of dust comes through broken door, as I was unable to close the door.
I appreciate if you can replace the door fully as it got smashed because of storm rather than just replacing door lock. In addition to it I wish if you can arrange temporary thick curtains to prevent wind and water to come inside in our living room.
I request you to visit personally our apartment at your earliest convenice and make possible solutions to fix the ongoing problem. I am looking forward for your prompt action to make necessary arrangements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly described the problem with the door lock, proposed a specific solution (replacing the door and providing curtains), and requested a personal visit from the manager. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a building manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the urgency of the situation. To reach a higher band, ensure that the connection between the broken lock and the resulting damage is explained with slightly more precise vocabulary, but overall, the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'because of that', 'in addition to it', and 'as', which help the flow of the letter. However, the transitions between sentences could be smoother. For example, the first paragraph is a bit dense with multiple ideas linked by 'because of that'. Using more varied linking words or breaking up long sentences would improve the overall flow and make the progression of ideas more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'prompt action' and 'at your earliest convenience' are appropriate for formal correspondence. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'mention you' (should be 'inform you') and 'make possible solutions' (should be 'find a solution'). Additionally, 'whole house become dirty' is slightly unnatural; 'apartment became soiled' or 'covered in dust' would be more precise. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific descriptive terms would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'water comes inside in our living room' (should be 'into our living room') and 'I appreciate if you can' (should be 'I would appreciate it if you could'). There are also some punctuation and tense inconsistencies, such as 'last week... my whole house become dirty' (should be 'became'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will improve your accuracy.
