Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly described the leaking tap and the resulting damage, suggested a specific solution (replacing the wooden cabin), and formally requested a site visit. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a building manager, maintaining a professional and polite stance throughout. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset, and the ideas are developed sufficiently to meet the requirements of the task. No parts of the prompt were omitted, and the information provided is relevant and focused.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction of the problem to the proposed solution and the final request. Paragraphing is used to separate the description of the issue from the suggested action, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. While you use transition words like 'already' and 'not only... but also', the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied linking words. Additionally, the structure of the letter is slightly cluttered by including the address details at the end, which is not necessary given the instructions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your needs effectively. Phrases like 'keen attention', 'foul smell', and 'analyzing the situation' are appropriate for this context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'draws yours keen attention' (should be 'draw your keen attention') and 'it should be get fixed' (should be 'it should be fixed'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate that your control over more complex lexical items is still developing. Expanding your range of formal collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'i am writing this email to draws yours keen attention' (subject-verb agreement and pronoun error), 'from the last two days' (incorrect preposition), and 'it should be get fixed' (incorrect passive construction). While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice in formal requests.
