Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the problem, suggesting a solution, and requesting a visit. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The description of the problem is vague, and the proposed solution lacks detail. Because the response is 32 words short of the requirement, the task is not fully addressed in terms of length, which negatively impacts the overall score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is divided into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed due to the lack of cohesive devices. Sentences are often short and choppy, such as 'Very difficult manage the water supply in our apartment. Difficult to manage the leakage.' There is a lack of linking words to connect the problem to the requested action, making the flow feel mechanical and repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'very unsatisfaction' (incorrect word form) and 'hole day' (spelling error for 'whole') indicate a restricted range. The student struggles with basic collocations, such as 'relace the washing area' and 'give possible suggestion'. While the message is generally understandable, the lack of precision and frequent errors in word choice and spelling prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('I am writing to this letter'), incorrect verb forms ('We can not managed'), and awkward phrasing ('I would request to you'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The lack of complex sentence structures and the high frequency of basic grammatical errors significantly limit the score in this category.
