Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the problem (the door lock), suggesting a solution (replacing the lock), and requesting a visit. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a building manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of the door issue is slightly confusing, and the request to stay in a guest apartment is a bit abrupt. While the task requirements are met, the response could be improved by providing more specific details about the lock malfunction to help the manager understand the urgency better.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition between the problem description and the request for a visit could be smoother. There are also some minor issues with referencing, such as the unclear use of 'it's same' in the third paragraph. Overall, the structure is sufficient to convey the message clearly, but it lacks the sophisticated flow required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate the situation effectively. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'tenet' (tenant), 'buliding' (building), 'appartment' (apartment), 'intially' (initially), 'yesrterday' (yesterday), 'scred' (scared), 'sson' (soon), 'passcod' (passcode), 'forword' (forward), 'responce' (response), and 'libraby' (library). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they do not impede the overall meaning. To reach a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate more consistent accuracy in spelling and use a slightly more varied range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'When I was came at home' (When I came home), 'I thought there is somene broke it' (I thought someone had broken it), and 'hotels are really expensive this days' (these days). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur frequently. The control of verb tenses and sentence construction needs improvement to ensure the majority of sentences are error-free. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels slightly awkward due to the grammatical slips.
