Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You have successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You described the problem clearly by mentioning the monsoon rain coming through the ceiling and that it has been broken for 10 days. You stated what should be done about it, suggesting a waterproof ceiling and double plastering on the wall. Furthermore, you asked the building manager to visit the apartment to see the problem firsthand. The register is appropriately semi-formal for a complaint letter to a building manager, and the purpose is clear throughout the response. All parts of the prompt are addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.5 or 7.0. Because the ideas are relevant and all prompts are clearly covered without being tangential, this aligns well with Band 7 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter has a clear overall arrangement and follows a logical letter-writing structure with appropriate opening and closing salutations. You use paragraphing sufficiently to separate the introduction, the problem description, your suggested solutions, the request for a visit, and the sign-off. However, some cohesive devices and transitions feel slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'As the ceiling was broken from previous 10 days' and 'this will also creating'. Referencing could also be smoother. Despite these minor issues with cohesion within sentences, the logical progression of the letter is clear and easy to follow, supporting a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'formally complain', 'infrastructure', and 'safety hazard'. However, there are several word choice and collocation errors that prevent a higher score. For example, writing 'complain you about' instead of 'complain to you about', and 'situation is deteriorated' instead of 'situation has deteriorated'. You also use 'from previous 10 days' instead of 'for the past 10 days'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, and your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, which places your lexical resource firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing this letter to formally complain...' and 'Due to the monsoon the rain water comes down...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Notable errors include missing articles ('infrastructure of house'), tense issues ('is deteriorated' instead of 'has deteriorated'), and incorrect verb forms ('this will also creating a severe safety hazard' and 'looking forward to see'). Punctuation and sentence boundary errors also occur, such as starting a sentence with 'As the ceiling was broken...' without completing the clause. These errors cause some reader strain, aligning the grammar with Band 5.5.
