Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the prompt, successfully describing multiple apartment problems, suggesting that repairs should be made based on the lease agreement, and asking the building manager to visit the property. However, some aspects are more fully developed than others. For instance, the request for a visit and the description of the issues are stated clearly, but the explanation regarding the furniture and the lease terms is slightly underdeveloped and repetitive. Nevertheless, the purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and all bullet points from the task instructions are duly addressed, showing a relevant presentation of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable letter structure, beginning with an appropriate salutation and closing with a sign-off. Cohesive devices are used to link the points, such as "Firstly", "Secondly", "Thirdly", and "Furthermore". However, the application of these cohesive markers is at times mechanical, and referencing is not always completely clear, such as the pronoun use in "that it make me in trouble". Paragraphing is attempted to separate the greeting, issues, lease details, and visit request, though the formatting of paragraph breaks could be managed more conventionally. Overall, the progression of ideas is fairly logical, guiding the reader through the various grievances.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common lexical items related to housing and repairs, such as "agreement", "residence", and "leakage". However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that reflect a limited range. For instance, "exguest fan" is a spelling and word choice error for extractor fan, and "article will broken" uses inappropriate terminology for household items and voice. Other vocabulary choices like "great there" are overly informal and somewhat unnatural for a formal complaint letter. While these lexical errors do not severely impede communication, they highlight a restricted vocabulary range with persistent inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the conditional-style structure in "if the article will broken... then I will repair it". There are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including tense inconsistencies and problems with subject-verb agreement, such as "shower is not working", "it make me in trouble", and "there is mentioned that". Preposition and article errors also appear, for instance, "Looking forward for reply". Despite these frequent slips in grammar and punctuation, the sentence structures are generally decipherable, and meaning is rarely obscured, allowing the reader to follow the intended message without major difficulty.
